Things you need to know...
  • All roles available in Miss Saigon are limited to Age 16 and above (at the time of audition), other than the role of Tam.
  • The role of Gigi is not available for audition.
  • All roles auditioned for are on an unpaid basis.
You must be prepared to commit to rehearsals as required for a five month period (including the season) and non-attendance at any rehearsals will not be acceptable.

Rehearsals for principals will begin on the 8th of January 2011 and for the chorus on the 21st of January 2011. Rehearsals may be called Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 7.00pm until 10.00pm and Sunday afternoon and evening; though generally there will be no more than three rehearsals in a week until close to show time. Major roles may be required more frequently.

There will be a full days rehearsal on Monday 16th of May - all cast must be available all day.

There will be one or two specific days where you will be required on weekday to attend rehearsal at the theatre, these will be notified well in advance. You will be expected to attend.

NOTE: Afternoon rehearsals have been scheduled for the Monday of Anniversary Weekend, Waitangi Sunday and Easter Monday.

Miss Saigon will be performed over from the 20th May to the 11th June at The Civic,
THE EDGE, Auckland. Performances will be Tuesday to Saturday Nights, Saturday and Sunday matinees.

You need to put everything you’ve got into your audition. We want you to be able to relax on the day and enjoy learning from the audition experience. We do, however, want you to be prepared, it shows us that you’ve put some thought and commitment into this.

Audition Guidelines
  • You should have a thoroughly rehearsed song ready for your audition.
  • Please note that a photo and body measurements will be taken for every auditionee.
  • Your song should be prepared to performance standard and show off your vocal talent. If you prefer, you may bring your own accompanist (by prior arrangement).
  • If you are utilising the provided accompanist, you must be able to provide full accompaniment sheet music. Vocal line and/or chord charts are not acceptable. Please be aware that you may be stopped before you have completed your entire song. This will be due to time constraints and will not be a reflection of your ability.
  • Be early for your audition including time to sign in for your audition and complete audition paperwork. You should allow time to be warmed up for movement.
  • Please dress appropriately to demonstrate movement and move freely.
  • IMPORTANT: FULL COMMITMENT TO REHEARSALS REQUIRED - Please do not audition if you are not in a position to commit fully to the rehearsal schedule. You cannot be involved in any other production during the rehearsal period without the express permission of the Director and Production Manager. While talent is the primary consideration when casting, level of commitment will also be a consideration and final choices for principal and ensemble roles will be made with this in mind.
